Happy Lagoon Bungalows - Khao Lak, Thailand

Arriving in Khao Lak without any accommodation we first wanted to check out several bungalows before making our decision. Our first stop (Green beach) was despite 50% discount still too expensive (700baht, ca. 17,50€ per night) and the second one mentioned in the travel guide (Khao Lak Bungalows) didn't even exist, that's why we decided to stay in the Happy Lagoon resort. The Happy Lagoon resort is located at the central street which leads to the beach at the Hat Nang Thong beach. Meaning that it is not exactly at the beach but 3min away from it, which doesn't really matter at all. Furthermore, it is also centrally located in the direction of the " main road" of Khao Lak with a supermarket and all the restaurants in the proximity.

Due to the low season we paid 400baht (ca. 10€) per night (fan room, hot and cold shower, small terrace, safe and Wifi ) . No documents or name or any information at all were asked of us at check on, and if we wanted we could've left the resort without any one noticing.

The room as the shower were spacious but due to the missing air con very stuffy. However, the fan managed just so to give a cool breeze during the night. The bed was as most of the time very large and quiet comfortable. Unfortunately, almost each morning it was necessary to start renovating the rooms next to us starting from around 8am, so we were woken up my hammering and other working sounds. Overall, you could always hear other people passing or talking outside our door which was quiet enoying.

During our four nights stay room service came once but then the room was cleaned without any negative remarks.
The resort had also a restaurant and a bar but those had only rarely guests and we didn't use them at all.

Da wir in Khao Lak ohne jegliche Unterkunft ankamen wollten wir zuerst uns einige Bungalows anschauen bevor wir unsere finale Entscheidung trafen. Unser erstes Ziel war das Green Beach Resort und trotz 50% Rabatt war es uns immer noch zu teuer (700 baht, ca 17,50€ pro Nacht). Das zweite Ziel die Khao Lak Bungalows haben gar nicht mehr existiert und so haben wir uns entschlossen im Happy Lagoon Resort zu bleiben.
Das Happy Lagoon Resort liegt an der mittleren Straße welche zum Strand führt, heißt es liegt nicht genau am Strand aber so ca. 3min davon entfernt ( nicht weit). Durch seine zentrale Lage ist auch die Hauptstraße mit den ganzen Restaurants und Supermärkten in der näheren Umgebung.

Aufgrund der Nebensaison (50% Rabatt) haben wir 400baht ca. 10€ für eine Nacht bezahlt. Die Unterkunft war jedoch ein Zimmer und kein Bungalow ausgestattet mit Ventilator, warmer & kaltem Wasser, einer kleinen Terrasse, Tresor und Wifi). Bei der Ankunft wurden von uns keine Dokumente oder andere Informationen fürs Check-in gefragt und wenn wir gewollt hätten hätten wir am Ende das Resort unbemerkt verlassen können (aber wir sind ja ehrlich).

Das Zimmer an sich war groß doch trotz der fehlenden Klimaanlage ziemlich stickig. Der Ventilator hat gerade noch so gereicht damit wir nachts eine kühle Brise hatten. Das Bett war zum Glück auch recht groß und recht komfortabel so konnte man (eigentlich) recht gut schlafen. Jedoch kam das Resort auf die glorreiche Idee morgens vor 9Uhr die Zimmer neben uns zu renovieren. Was zur Folge hatte, dass wir so ziemlich jeden Tag zum Hämmern und Sägen aufgewacht sind. Da die meisten Fenster und der Ausgang in die Richtung eines Weges gezeigt haben war es durchgehend recht laut bzw man hat immer jemanden Reden hören.

Der Zimmer service hat wohl auch aufgeräumt wann er Lust hatte und so wurde unser Zimmer während der 4 Nächte nur einmal aufgeräumt aber dann auch blitze blank.

Das Resort hat auch eine Bar und ein Restaurant jedoch haben wir diese nie besucht und haben auch nur seehr wenige Gäste gesehen die davon Gebrauch gemacht haben.
