Knowing that Koh Mook is tiny and that cheap accommodations on this island are rare we decided to check out Coco Lodge.
It was not only "cheap" 500baht per night (ca. 12.50€) it also had very good reviews on
Tripadvisor.com.
Coco Lodge is located on the right hand side of the fishers village and is easily reachable by foot (ca. 10min)walk. It got its name from the many coconut trees standing in the property. At our arrival a lady showed us the bungalow and we were convinced. Coco Lodge offers mainly Bamboo bungalows and some out of cement (700baht in low season), but the Bamboo ones offer much more flair and more fresh air.
The huts have a double bed (smaller size than usual, but enough for 2 persons), fan and cold shower. Although of the size of the island electricity is non issue like on Koh Phayam. The resort has also a restaurant with good portions for a reasonable price. Furthermore, Che (the owner) has a vegetable garden which provides many ingredients for their dishes (homemade coconut milk included).
During our stay Che with his wife and sister (they manage the resort together) did their best to provide the best stay possible.
First, they offer free bikes to explore the island and spoiled us with so many free (and delicious) snacks it was unbelievable. Che insisted to show us the Emerald cave and so we had two trips due to the weather. The first time did work out so he showed us a snorkeling spot and a secluded beach (for free). Furthermore, he was always eager to give us advice or some tips to enjoy our stay to the fullest.
If you have the chance to visit Koh Mook Coco Lodge is the place to stay.
