Activities at Khao Lak / Aktivitäten in Khao Lak

Good old Germany, no seriously Germans everywhere. When you have 7 different groups in a restaurant and each one speaks German you know this location is a German Hotspot for sure (oh and you have German restaurants with a German menu and some Thais speak German as well.)
Khao Lak is actually famous for its diving spots (apart from being destroyed by the Tsunami) but due to low season and bad conditions almost all diving schools were closed and the ones which were open provided only trips to Phuket, which were too expensive for us.
Khao Lak provides several beautiful beaches along its main road which probably are even more beautiful in high season and on sunny days. But for us it was only clouds, clouds, one day of sun and rain. That's why we decided against renting a moped and explore the other beaches and only stayed at ours. As on Koh Phayam we had a lot of waves and wind along the beach, which was some fun for me but not so much for Franziska. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the sound of the waves and the interesting stories of our books.
Although the main road is full of restaurants in the end we made use of only three (of course mostly due to their prices). Directions are from the perspective if you arrive at Hat Nang Thong Beach From the north.

1. Name: Go pang
  • Location : At the beginning of Hat Nang Thong On the right hand side
  • Is not an actual restaurant but more of a street food stand with really cheap dishes and a good taste no matter which one you choose (despite the fried chicken for 30baht, it's cold?!)
2. Name: My style Restaurant
  • Location : Central of Hat Nang Thong On the left hand side
  • Managed by a very nice lady, with good portions and cheaper than the restaurants around it. You should try the banana boiled in coconut milk.
3. Name : Tiffys Restaurant

  • Location : almost just across the street of Go Pang, so at the beginning on the left hand side.
  • The best we tried in Khao Lak and a bit more pricey. They have a German and English menu ad well as the usual traditional German dishes. Amazing taste and great portions. The best Panang curry we tried so far (and we had a lot). You should also try the banana fritters with ice cream (it is violet and tastes amazing).
Wird bald folgen.
