Besides eating, relaxing at the beach, diving, snorkeling and exploring the island (might take
a day or two) and surfing there is really not much to do, and that is perfect the way it is.
The island has mainly four beaches Ao Yai (Long Beach), Ao Khao Kwai (Buffalo Bay) and ,
Ao Mae Mai, where the ferry arrives and in the north Ao Kwang Peeb (Monkey Bay). The first
three are the big ones whereas the monkey bay is smaller, more quiet but also more difficult
to reach.
Either way if you want to move around the island you will need a moped. I suggest to get one at Ao Mae Mai where they should be the cheapest starting from 120baht per day (depending also on the overall amount of days, the longer the cheaper) Nonetheless, each resort rents out mopeds as well and we had to pay 250baht (ca 6€) per day.
Having a moped nothing can stop you exploring the island. Most of roads are in a good condition and the ones which are not are not that important.
During our exploration we stumbled by accident on the monkey bay. For two days in a row with minimal rain and a lot of sun we were the only people at that beach and it belonged to alone to us. On the third day we got to know another German couple whom we invited to share our lonely beach.
Because of the low season (moonsom time: it rains a lot ) not many tourists visit the island, most of the resorts are closed, no diving takes place, the water is not so clear (so no snorkeling) and there are a lot of waves on the west side (Long Beach and Buffalo Bay) but overall it is more relaxed and calm.

Auf Koh Phayam gibt es nicht so viele Aktivitäten die man unternehmen kann. Da wäre
zuerst das Essen, am Strand entspannen, per Moped die Insel erkunden (dauert 1oder 2
Tage) , surfen, tauchen und schnorcheln, nichtsdestotrotz die paar Aktivitäten sind genug
um super zu entspannen.
Die Insel hat hauptsächlich 4 Strände, Ao Yai auch Long Beach genannt, Ao Khao Kwai (Buffalo Bay), Ao Mae Mai, wo die Fähren ankommen und im Norden Ao Kwang Peeb (Monkey Bay). Die ersten Drei sind die größeren Strände un die Monkey Bay kleiner und ruhiger aber auch etwas schwerer zu erreichen (einmal 10min durch den Wald).
Für alle Fälle um sich auf der Insel fortzubewegen braucht man ein Mofa. Diese kann man sich am günstigsten auf am Ao Mae Mai Strand wo man sie schon für ca. 120baht am Tag (ca. 3€) ausleihen kann. Umso länger man eins mietet umso günstiger wird es. Zusätzlich vermieten alle Resorts selbst auch Mofas jedoch etwas teurer, war haben für unseres 250baht pro Tag (ca. 6€) bezahlt.
Mit einem Moped kann man ohne Probleme die Insel erkunden da die meisten Straßen in guter Verfassung sind und die bei denen es nicht der Fall ist sind auch nicht so wichtig. Während unserer Erkundungstour der Insel sind wir per Zufall auf die Monkey Bay gestoßen, und für die nächsten 2 Tage (mit minimalem Regen und viel Sonne) waren wir die einzigsten Personen auf diesem kleinen verlassenen Strand.
Aufgrund von der Nebensaison (Monsoonzeit = viel Regen) besuchen nur wenige Touristen dir Insel und die meisten Resorts sind geschlossen. Durch den starken Wind auf der Westseite (Long Beach & Buffalo Bay) und den Wellen ist das Wasser nicht so klar wie in der Hauptsaison, jedoch ist es viel ruhiger und auch entspannter.
