Bamboo Bungalows - Koh Phayam, Thailand

Through the recommendations of Tripadvisor.com and our travel guide we decided to check out the Bamboo Bungalows at Ao Yai beach (Long Beach). Upon arrival we were greeted by a polite Thai lady who, without asking for any documents regarding the check-in, showed us one of their superior bungalows (500baht per night ca 12,50€). She promised if you will see thatone you will not want to sleep in the normal bungalows, and she was right.
 The interior had a great design with a huge bed, fan, safe and an open air shower (only cold water). Additionally, the bungalow had a terrace with two chairs and a hammock if you wanted to relax outside, and if you want to go to the beach, the resort provides you with free bogey boards and surfboards, as well.
Due to the seclusion and size of the island ( 30km away from the mainland, 8km long and 5km wide)play their part that not all resorts provide continuous electricity, which was also the case for the Bamboo Bungalows (only from 11am until 2pm and from 6pm until 10pm)sometimes a bit longer sometimes shorter. In low season it is also important to know that most of the resorts are closed so you should check it before hand if the one you have chosen is operating. Each resort has its own restaurant and the one at Bamboo bungalows is one of the best. The restaurant as the resort are managed by an Israeli Thai famliy who also will help you with your inquiries, however, the rest of the employees don't understand much English (but that didn't cause any problems).

Durch die Empfehlung vom Tripadvisor und unserem Reiseführer entschieden wir uns die Bamboo Bungalows am ao Yai Strand (Long beach) anzuschauen. Bei unserer Ankunft wurden wir von einer netten thailändischen Dame begrüßt und zu einem Superior Bungalow geführt(500baht per Nacht ca 12,50€). Sie versprach uns, wenn wir dieses Bungalow sehen werden möchten wir gar nicht in der billigen Version bleiben, und sie hatte recht. Ohne nach irgendwelchen Dokumenten zu fragen oder nach der Dauer unseres Aufenthalts haatten wir den Schlüssel bekommen und durften uns ausbreiten.
Der Bungalow war wirklich super ausgestattet mit einem riesigen Bett, Ventilator, Safe und einer Dusche an der freien Luft (leider nur Kaltwasser aber egal). Zusätzlich gab es noch eine Terrasse mit Hängematte und zwei Stühlen falls man draußen entspannen wollte. Für den Strand standen auch kostenlos Bogey Boards und Surfboards zur Verfügung.
Auf Grund der Abgelegenheit und der Größe der Insel (30km vom Festland, 8km lang und 5km breit) ist es für einige Resorts etwas schwer durchgehend Strom zur Verfügung zu stellen. Dies war auch der Fall von Bamboo Bungalows und deshalb gab es (meistens) Strom von 11Uhr bis 14 Uhr und von 18Uhr bis 22Uhr, danach war Dunkelheit angesagt. Zusätzlich sollte man wissen, dass in der Nebensaison viele Resorts geschlossen sind deshalb sollte man sich am Besten vorher erkundigen ob das jeweilige Resort geöffnet ist.
So ziemlich jedes Resort hat sein eigenes Restaurant und bei den Gesprächen mit den Besitzern (eine Israelische-Thailändische Familie) hat sich herausgestellt, dass unser Restaurant eins der Besten ist und auch von außerhalb viele Besucher aufweist.
